Niale got his exercise walking the track and manoeuvring through and around the plethora of weeds. A wee bit of work on a couple of bolts and a lot of weeds and we'll be good to run a train or 18.
Ted, Jim and Lukas spent a productive day switching some cars and locomotives around and about so the coach is now parked on the mainline ready to go. And Locomotive 1392 was pulled out of her comfy semi-retirement home and placed on the "ready track". Then they proceeded to feed and water her. She is now full of fuel and liquid steam, soon to be converted to hot water vapour and smoke, but not too much smoke, eh guys?!?
Ivan spent the morning getting the bad news from the overhead door guru on the trials and tribulations that will be needed to get the big doors operational in Dunvegan Shop. Then he spent the afternoon doing, as he termed it, "homework"! Thus we learned that Ivan is an expert in vacuum cleaner operations! He did a splendid job of vacuuming the summer accumulation of dust and cobwebs out of "Fort Brabant" in preparation for a private party in that car on the long weekend Sunday.
Phil spent a good chunk of the day relocating "artifacts" from the east end of the carpenter shop so the Sunday visitors to "Fort Brabant" don't have to wonder what those "junky" looking items really are. As well, he straightened out the lumber pile and then started building a couple of steps to be used for car access. Ya just can't never have too many car access steps!
Don helped relocate Phil some of the "artifacts". And he coordinated the delivery of several tandem truckloads of nice, clean dirt, then used the dozer to spread it out in the Back 40 to increase the acreage of terra firma and decrease the acreage of swampa softa.
John B. was out to deliver car interpretation sheets that he had made up (the sheets that is, not the information) which Jamie later posted in the appropriate cars.
Jamie wielded a wild weed whacker and proved there actually was a sidewalk along the east side of the carpenter shop as well as some rails and ties on the east end of the mainline underneath the phenomenal growth of grass and weeds. And found a pair of Barry's missing gloves in the yard maintenance shed.
Herb met with all the volunteers at one time or several to ensure that all was going according to plan, or would be if we had a plan.
