Chris Nielsen, MLA for Edmonton-Decore spoke about improving the promotion of the Museum. He admires history and is working on a project for providing better signage for the Alberta Railway Museum. He is also keeping the minister of Culture and Tourism in touch with what is happening at the Museum. He gave thanks to the Board and all of the volunteers for their hard work.
Colin Piquette. MLA for Athabasca-Sturgeon-Redwater also spoke about improving the signage of the Alberta Railway Museum. He informed that Sturgeon County Mayor Tom Flynn is in support of this. Colin looks forward to visiting the Museum in the summer. He also made mention of the role that the railway played in his family history.
The "Proposed Amendments to the 1992 Bylaws as of 2015" (which were developed by the Board with a consultant from Alberta Culture Community Development) were voted on and passed by the membership. They will now be forwarded to the Provincial Registrar for approval before becoming effective. Herb Dixon and Brad Rae were re-elected to the board.
Volunteers were thanked and recognized for their hard work and commitment. The 2015 Annual Report was distributed and highlights discussed.
A delicious hot lunch was served followed by a fascinating slide presentation detailing the history of the APRA by Don Scafe, a founding member of the Association.
