In the Gift Shop: Gloria, Carol, Cathy, Rose Marie, John, Penny and Irene got the stock sorted, priced, and displayed, ready for opening day. A couple of diligent gift shop elves dropped by to unpack this season's latest goodies. April 30th (Roland, Janet and Betty) and May 14th (Betty, Ella and Irene). We have some wonderful new styles and colours of hats and jackets for both men and women – be sure to have a look the next time you’re by.
The pop cooler is filled with all sorts of delicious beverages to quench your thirst (the lemonade is the best for those hot days). The freezer is filled with ice cream (drumsticks of course!). The brand new Keurig machine is setup and ready to go. Along with many different types of coffees, we are now selling Chai lattes, and French vanilla cappuccinos! Herb had a sample and gave it his seal of approval!
On the Grounds: Herb, Stephen & Jamie Y, Jamie McQ, Dave, Terry, Kyle, Phil, Kevin, Fred, Jordan, Rob, Barry, Jim, Don, John, and Hans along with a crew of CSVs got the site, displays, and cars cleaned, walkways and stairs installed, and picnic tables repaired. Many other odds and ends on site were also taken care of. A delicious lunch of clam chowder, chicken noodle soup, sandwiches, lasagna, and garlic toast was served. Scrumptious deserts were also a real hit! (especially the Nanaimo bars).
On the Rails: Brad, Paul and crew rearranged railway cars, locomotives and most things mobile to set us up for the summer. Lukas and other mechanically inclined volunteers worked behind the scenes. Visitors will be able to walk through railway cars this summer and enjoy new interpretive displays.
An excellent job was done by all!
The Museum opens this Saturday at 10:00, we look forward to another excellent season and we hope to see you there.
