Thus a Gift And Souvenir Procurement committee was selected and authorized to make the desired and required purchases. The GASP Gang was comprised of Irene D. - experienced gift-guru, Christina M. - fashionista advisoress, John B. - keeper of stock inventory and director of retail sales and Jamie M. - the budget police and general sceptic. GASP gathered at the Northlands Expo on Family Day Monday (the sacrifices we make!) and mapped out the buying strategy for the day. It was left to the two ladies to determine the route to take - who, without the slightest wayward step, headed directly for the jewellery and ladies fashion pavilion. In a heartbeat, half the budget gone! But ladies - you can so look forward to a plethora of fascinators, brooches, pins, scarves, shawls, parasols and hats appearing on the shelves on opening day for your purchasing pleasure!
Then it was on to the home decor area where it was fully expected to find all kinds of nifty railway related decorations. After wearing off a good percentage of shoe leather, it was determined that trains aren't the current in-thing! But all was not derailed and for the guys there will be some rail spikes with little pewter trains, pocket watches and LED lanterns! For the little folks, some watches and little trains for tooth fairy and first curl deposits.
Next up was the logo wear and the buying process was notched up to Run 8. For the wee folk - bibs and crawlers! For the tots and toddlers - neon and lumberjack hoodies! For the bigger kids of all ages - really nifty jackets!
By that time the end of the track was approaching and air brakes were being applied in the form of tired feet. But that didn't prevent one last station stop - the Candy Section! Y'all will be able to salivate over the sponge toffee, chocolate covered pretzels and popcorn and rock candy!
All-in-all a successful day and the final GASP let go for another year.
Oh yeah, a PS. Irene managed to score a rush order of cute little jackets for the ARM booth at the Moms, Pops and Tots show coming up on March 7 and 8 at Northlands Expo. And for which, some volunteers are still needed to staff the booth. If you can spare some time on one of those days and would like to help out, contact Stephen Y.
