The 2018 season is well underway. If you haven’t been out to the Museum yet this year, you will notice that we’ve moved some train cars around to keep things fresh. We have also re-positioned certain cars / locomotives for restoration work.
Currently 1392, our operating steam locomotive is in the Calder shop, finishing off her 5 year boiler inspection and having her back springs replaced. The plan is to have her pulling Passenger Car 6740 on the July long weekend. As well the NAR business car Dunvegan & the NAR flanger are in Calder. Hiding in Dunvegan shop is the CN caboose.
Thanks to the Canada Summer Jobs program, we have two summer staff members. Claire O’Brien returns for the second summer, and joining us this year is Janet Xu. Please say hello and introduce yourself when you are at the Museum.
Please mark your calendars for the Museum’s 50th Anniversary celebration on July 14. We are having a celebratory dinner where current and former members, as well as our sponsors will be invited. More details to follow.
Not a member? We’d love to have you as a member. Memberships can be purchased online via the Museum website. The price is very reasonable, and we accept cash, VISA, Mastercard, and PayPal. Payment in the form of small children or spare pets is not accepted. However, payment in the form of a riding mower in excellent working condition would be considered! Membership benefits include unlimited train and speeder car rides, free Museum admission, and the ability to vote for and sit on the Alberta Railway Museum board of directors.
