Grandparent's day is officially held in September, but this year the Alberta Railway Museum is celebrating Grandparent's day on Sunday August 21. Admission is free for grandparents, as long as they bring the grandkids.
Many grandparents have fond memories of train travel, and here is the ideal opportunity for them to share those memories with the younger generation. The grandparents are invited to come out with the grandkids, climb on the train, yell "All aboard!", and ride into history.
Tour the passenger cars and reminisce about riding the train across the country. Share memories of working on the railway as you climb up into the caboose and wave at the engineer. Tell stories about sending the milk and cream to the big city by rail, and describe the excitement of being at the station when the train pulled into town.
The Alberta Railway Museum is located in rural northeast Edmonton at 24215 - 34 St., and is open weekends during the summer. Visit www.AlbertaRailwayMuseum.com for a map and information. Bring a picnic lunch and stay for the day! Our gift shop features souvenirs and refreshments, including ice cream!
