Following that they required AEI tags(for a full discussion see the Wikipedia entry below): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automatic_equipment_identification
When those tags were prepared (thanks to the car shop folks at Walker Yard) Dave applied them at Alta Steel's yard. Subsequently, Alta Steel requested a CN move from their location to our siding. That request was made on Thursday, July 26, so we can expect the transfer to take place in the next few days.
The LaFarge unit is the only one left to transfer. Plans are underway to get it loaded and shipped by InterRail's flat deck truck. It has rails embedded in the deck. An appropriate location has to be found in CN 's yard at Strathcona, so InterRail's truck can be positioned to winch the unit up on the deck.
The Alberta Prairie coach 6740 will be repainted in Alberta Prairie's colors. Alberta Prairie has loaned the coach to us and it has met our needs superbly. Thanks Don and Bob for your support over the years!!
The coach has been scraped and sanded. The roof, trucks and side panels have all had a couple of coats of black. All that remains is to have the CN green applied to the sides, the yellow striping re-applied and the lettering done. Thanks to Barry and the CSVs for getting the job done this far. Now Niall can finish the job for the long weekend.
