NAR 17913 has been switched into Calder shop (North Track) in preparation for restoration. Terry has obtained a grant from AGRIUM to replace, repair and paint the siding, roof, and under-frame of this significant artifact. It will require considerable work, including removing and replacing siding. We expect that CSV help will be essential to completing this project.
Half of the car was used for storage of shelving and fixtures from a retail store. The removal of these items has begun and will be completed in the next few weeks. The other half of the car contains an assortment of items that were placed there for safekeeping. As the car is restored, these items will be shifted from end to end to allow restoration of the car to take place.
The next move will see the Cook Car placed into Calder Shop (North Track) behind 17913 for repairs too. Brad has arranged to use Calder Shop (South Track) for locomotive repairs.
Barry C. supervised the CSVs who provided great support for moving things around.
Jamie cleaned up the sidewalks and investigated some alternatives for storing artifacts. Don made sure that all the activity in Calder shop did not disturb the working areas and that materials and tools were available for volunteers. These housekeeping duties are essential to maintaining a safe, clean working environment.
Wednesday will see much of the switching completed and a work plan in place.
